Job Description

An Executive Housekeeper has specialized knowledge in housekeeping, cleaning and caring for fine furnishing, valuables and artwork and typically has experience working in multi-staff and large homes with many demands. Executive Housekeepers must have excellent communications skills as well as a professional demeanor and appearance.

An executive housekeeper is responsible for supervising the housekeeping operations and delegating tasks to the housekeeping staff. Executive housekeepers inspect the maintenance of the facilities within their assigned areas, ensuring that the cleaning duties are done efficiently. They also check all the cleaning tools and equipment, call for repairs for any inconsistencies, and request for replacement on defective items. An executive housekeeper must have excellent communication and leadership skills, creating reasonable housekeeping schedules and maximize the productivity of the whole housekeeping department.

Summary of essential job functions.
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibility

  • Lead the household staff, including laundry, maids and caretakers.
  • Plan and schedule proper staffing accordingly for all special events that the home owners request.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure that acceptable standards are met with OSHA, JCAHO, local and state regulations.
  • Train and oversees employee compliance with OSHA standards regarding proper usage and dilution of chemical products, equipment safety and usage. Have strong knowledge of organic cleaning supplies and use them when available
  • Devise daily deployment of cleaning staff based on household use and occupancy.
  • Maintain and document all personal documents pertaining to the housekeeping department, from payroll to inventory.
  • Acknowledge budget and payroll guidelines to ensure that each area of responsibility operates within establish cost while providing maximum service.
  • Monitor and act on special requests as needed.
  • Some travel may be required

Minimum Requirements

Our ideal candidate will think out of the box, be proactive and take the initiative, have the ability to make quick decisions and work independently, and enjoy a challenge!

  • College degree in business management and/or Hotel/Restaurant management
  • 3 years experience in working in a private home as a head housekeeper
  • 3 verifiable references
  • Human resource management skills such as recruitment and training
  • Purchasing and inventory skills
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS) certification is a requirement
  • Good vendor relations management skills
  • Personable and friendly, able to communicate well with the staff and homeowner
