Job Description

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Horticulturist. This is your chance to work in a cutting edge; controlled environment atmosphere. We currently are in a research and development mode in pursuit of raising organic fruits and vegetables in a hydroponic environment. We are in need of a person who can ascertain the best mix of organic nutrients, water filtration and grow environment. In this role, you will test the current methods and suggest better methods to produce better quality results, then collaborate with the research team to determine the best plants and processes that should be used throughout the system. We prefer candidates who have at least three years of professional horticulture experience and are ASHS certified.

Summary of essential job functions.
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibility

  • Assist with design and implementation of the hydroponic facility
  • Install and cultivate functional plants
  • Develop processes for organic growth in a controlled environment atmosphere
  • Maintain and promote the facilities needs
  • Identify and treat potential pests or diseases in an organic fashion
  • Recommend organic pesticides
  • Recommend organic nutrients and feeding processes
  • Provide plant care advice to other team members and clients

Minimum Requirements

Our ideal candidate will think out of the box, be proactive and take the initiative, have the ability to make quick decisions and work independently, and enjoy a challenge!

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or a related field (or associate degree and equivalent experience)
  • Certification through the ASHS a plus
  • Experience in landscaping or working with various types of plants (3-5 years preferred)
  • Experience in a controlled environment and/or hydroponic facility
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable and experienced working in a research and development environment
  • Eye for detail
